Freida Pinto – Biography, Family
Freida Pinto was a model-actress from India. She had appeared in American, British and Indian films. She came into limelight with her role in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Freida Pinto full name was Freida Selena Pinto, She was born on 18 October 1984 in Mumbai, India. Pinto was raised in Mumbai where she attended Carmel of St. Joseph School and Pinto was studied English Literature in St. Xavier’s College.
Career
After graduation, Freida joined modelling agency Elite Models India. As a model pinto was featured on print and television advertisements. She modelled for Skoda, Airtel, Vodafone India, Visa, eBay, De Beers brands. While working as a model she was attending the auditions for television shows and movies. She got a chance as an anchor for Zee TV international travel show “Full Circle”.
In 2008 Pinto was chosen for a role in Danny Boyle film “Slumdog Millionaire”. In this movie Pinto played Latika character, She acted alongside Dev Patel. The movie became the tremendous hit and it was won eight Oscar Awards. Even though her character presence in the film was limited, she got a positive response from critics.
Following the success with Slumdog Millionaire Freida got several projects. In 2010 she signed two films “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger”. Pinto played the lead role in Julian Schnabel “Miral”. The film was a flop and got negative reviews but Freida performance got mixed reviews.
In 2011 Pinto appeared in four films including the science fiction film “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, “Trishna”, “Day of the Falcon” and fantasy action film “Immortals”.
In 2013 Pinto has appeared in the video of Bruno Mars “Gorilla” song. In 2014 Pinto starred in the film “Desert Dancer”, It was the biography of Iranian dancer Afshin Ghaffarian. The film was not successful and Pinto performance received negative reviews from critics.
In 2015 Pinto was starred in Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups. It was an experimental film, Pinot shared the screen with Christian Bale and Natalie Portman. In the same year she appeared in the Columbian film “Blunt Force Trauma” and the same year she started working in Andy Serkis motion capture film “Mowgli” and it was released in 2018.
Apart from acting Pinto was a philanthropist, her works are involved towards to address women’s issues and uplifting underprivileged children life.
