Radhika Apte – Biography, Family, Movies

Radhika Apte is a film actress and theatre artist from India. Radhika Apte had acted in Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, English Language films. Radhika Apte was born on 7th September 1985 in Pune city belongs to Maharashtra State.

She did her graduation in mathematics and economics from Fergusson College in Pune. From her school days, Radhika was taken to Kathak (Indian classical dance) training for eight years. After her graduation, she went to the London and there she studied the contemporary dance in Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Career

Radhika started her career through the theatre plays. She appeared mostly in Marathi Stage plays and she had done minor plays in Hindi and English Languages.

In 2005 Radhika debuted in bollywood film Vaah! Life Ho Tho Aisi!, In which she appeared in a small role. It was Radhika’s first movie which is done during her college days.

Actor Rahul Bose spotted Radhika while she is performing in play Bombay Black and suggested her name to director Aniruddha Roy Chowdary. He cast Radhika in his film Antaheen along with Sharmila Tagore and Aparna Sen. It was Radhika’s first Bengali film released in 2009 and she got a positive response for her acting.

Radhika debut Marathi film Gho Mala Asla Hava, In which she played village girl character who wants to choose a husband by herself not by her father consents. The same year she appeared in Amol Palekar Samaantar.

In 2010 she appeared in bollywood film The Waiting Room and Ram Gopal Verma’s bilingual film Rakta Charitra and its sequel Rakta Charitra 2 film. It was a biographical political crime thriller movie released in Hindi and Telugu Languages, Radhika was featured alongside Vivek Oberoi.

In 2012 Radhika made a debut in Tamil with Dhoni movie. Radhika’s performance was critically acclaimed and she was nominated for SIIMA Awards. Radhika’s six films were released in 2015 including her Malayalam debut movie Haram. Radhika Apte performance was critically acclaimed for her role in biographical drama Manjhi – The Mountain Man.

In 2016 she was starred in Rajinikanth gangster drama movie Kabali. She played Rajinikanth wife character. The same year she was featured in Indo-US drama film Parched. This movie has made controversies because of the bold scenes between Radhika Apte and Adil Hussain.

Radhika starred with Akshay Kumar in Padman. This film was inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. This movie gives awareness about menstrual hygiene. Apte played the role of a shy housewife who does not use sanitary napkins in during menstruation and she feels like it was a taboo.

Along with the films she did many short films and she actively performs stage plays. Radhika Apte is associated with theatre troupe Aasakta Kalamanch in Pune. Radhika Apte Bengali short film Ahalya was critically acclaimed.
