Dell Curry Biography, Family

Dell Curry is an American former NBA player. Dell Curry original name is Wardell Stephen Curry I. He played basketball for 16 years from 1986 to 2002. Now he is working as a commentator on Charlotte Hornets Television broadcasts.

He is the father of two NBA players, Stephen Curry (Most valuable basketball player) and Seth Curry.
Dell Curry was born on 25 June 1964 in Harrisonburg Virginia. Curry was interested in sports from his childhood. Curry attended Fort Defiance School in Virginia, where he started playing basketball and baseball. In the school Curry practised shooting daily with his coach, this made him become the best shooter.

In college Curry finished as the all-time leading scorer, which was a record in the school history. In 1982 he was named as the McDonald’s All-American in high school.

From 1982 to 1986 Dell Curry attended Virginia Tech college located in Blacksburg. In the college, he played both games basketball and football. Curry was named as the player of the year by Metro Conference in 1986. At that time Curry was in his senior season in Virginia Tech.

At Virginia Tech Curry finished his career with 2389 points (second leading of all time) and 295 steals (It was all-time leading in Virginia Tech history). Curry played baseball at state level championships and won some trophies and After college, he made his choice to go with basketball as his full-time career in sports.

Dell Curry was selected Utah Jazz in 1986 NBA Draft. Curry played only one year for Utah jazz and he moved to Cleveland Cavaliers, Here also he spent one year.

In 1988 Curry was picked by Charlotte Hornets, Here he spent most of his professional career for 10 years. Currently, he holds the record of all time highest in points, games played and three-point goals for Charlotte Hornets. He also won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994 while playing for Charlotte Hornets.

After departing from Charlotte Hornets, Curry played one season for Milwaukee Bucks and Before his retirement, he played final three seasons for Toronto Raptors.

In 2002 Dell Curry was retired and in 2004 he was honoured with Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

After retirement, Dell Curry was active in basketball as a coach and commentator. From 2009 he started commentary along with his co-player Steve Martin.

Dell established a charitable foundation in Charlotte, which provides education and counselling for drug addiction.
